How did you get started in the entertainment industry? Have you always wanted to be on television?
First of all, it was a total fluke. Even though I performed in plays and loved the theater I never thought that I would be on a national network like HGTV. It was a friend of a friend of a friend type thing who suggested to their niece, a talent scout, that I was a good candidate for the type of realtor they were looking for. Actually, being on television never crossed my mind, but I sure am having a good time! And I love HGTV and the show Beat the House!
What do you love the most about real estate? Dislikes?
My favorite part of my job is working with a variety of people and trying to find the house of their dreams. It truly is a challenge to find that perfect house. I love getting to know the people and forming relationships with past clients. The only thing that I don’t like about my job is for anyone that I’m working with to be disappointed. I know it sounds kinda cornball, but I just want people to be happy and I like being part of making that happen.
You have a very fun and energetic personality that is great to watch. Would you say those are qualities most real estate agents have?
Absolutely! Any successful agent has to have a charismatic nature and that fired up spirit that is needed to sell a house.
Has there ever been a home that you have helped sell and you just thought “I REALLY want this home for myself!”?
Are you kidding?! Every one of them I love! The real question is has there been one that I haven’t wanted?! I love all types and styles and I always have a vision of what I could do to it to make it mine. Thank goodness I can’t buy all of them!
What has been your most memorable moment on the set of Beat The House? Most hilarious or just plain weird?
Probably being squeezed in a bathroom with three cameramen. Two standing in the tub and one on the commode and the camera staring at me right in the face looking at every freckle I’ve got! It couldn’t have been bigger than a matchbox! The crew of Beat the House and all the producers were just about the nicest people I’ve met in my life. So talented and courteous, they made me feel like a princess!
Do you have any interesting hobbies outside of the real estate world?
I am an avid tennis player. Believe it or not, I go to open houses and closings in my tennis clothes. Everyone knows me for wearing my uniform and clothes around town. My first HGTV video was in my tennis attire! Other than my family and friends, I have to say I’m addicted to tennis!
How long does it usually take to film an entire episode of Beat the House? What do you enjoy doing during your down time “breaks”?
It generally takes 3 to 5 days, depending on the location and traveling time. While in New York, I had the opportunity during my breaks to visit with friends and family members. We shopped and of course ate, drank, and were merry! Always a wonderful time in New York City!
Are there any places you would just love to travel to?
I really love to travel and I’ve been a lot of places, but there’s nothing like traveling in the US of A!
If you could share one piece of advice to young first time home-buyers, what would it be?
Get a good realtor to help you understand the process. Contact a mortgage company so you can know what you can afford and not be disappointed. Enjoy the fun and don’t get too stressed out along the way.
